From the library of Spydeee Gasmantell, with his signature on prelims. The author's last work from 1902. Set (when written) in the near future of the 1920s, features a race between a train and a team of cyclists being fed on perpetual motion food and the exploits of a 'supermale' whose feats of endurance and sexual athleticism are prodigious. Alfred Jarry was a French symbolist writer, best known for his play Ubu Roi, a forerunner of Dada and the Surrealist and Futurist movements of the 1920s and 1930s. It was Bas Hermon, Little Bas (there was also a Big Bas) who introduced me to Alfred Jarry.
