Feilding performed self-trepanation using a drill and documented the act in her film Heartbeat in the Brain. This brochure contains the artist’s statement for a Special Project Exhibition at Project Studios One Oct. 1st – Nov. 15th, 1978 which was an attempt to promote trepanation and included stills from her film. Feilding twice ran for Parliament (in 1979 and 1983) on the platform ‘Trepanation for the National Health’, advocating research into its potential benefits and provision of the procedure on the NHS.
