Lino prints made by Ben Waddington in Sept - Oct 2024 from the original lino block used for the Coil album Gold is the Metal (With the Broadest Shoulders). The original lino was cut by Sleazy in 1987 to a design suggested by John Balance. 
 
Artist statement: “Sleazy’s lino block was used to create at least one print for the album cover, but then lay unused in storage for the next 25 years in London, later in Weston, then later still in Wales, after which I became the owner following a fundraising eBay sale by Thighpaulsandra. The prints are my own creation; the finished designs are my colour combinations, layers, textures and materials inspired by the original album cover. Special editions of the original album came with gold leaf added by Sleazy where the title appeared on regular editions. I've channeled this embellishment by adding my own gold leaf in a variety of shapes and patterns. I've given each print  a title, inspired by the album's tracks and sleeve note phrases. There is no edition number: each creation is unique…maybe you could think of each as being '1/1', from a pool of around 30 in total. I have not inscribed any of the prints on the front, but have titled, dated and signed each on the back in white ink. No copyright is being infringed: the majority of the visual artistic creation here is mine.”
