Introduced by Stewart Farrar. First published in 1899, this is Leland's famous 'translation' of a text taken from witches in Tuscany which proved to be influential on the development of modern Wicca. Leland reported receiving the manuscript from his primary informant on Italian witchcraft beliefs, a woman he referred to as "Maddalena" and whom he called his "witch informant" in Italy.
