COUM Transmissions: BRADFORD COUM VAN CLUB Archive
1972 Three autograph letters and two autograph forms. All items folded. Light rubbing else VG, housed in original envelope (lacking rear paste down flap).
An extraordinary archive of materials relating to the Bradford Coum Van Club (here seemingly styled Van Glub), which acted as both a fan club and logistics hub for the many COUM road trips in Doris the van.
Includes a handwritten letter from Genesis (unusually signed "Geno") to club president Peter Risdale, written on the back of a flyer for The Alien Brain performance, and asking for attendance support. Also included is are two 2pp letters from Spydee Gasmantell with general gossip plus a report on an event at which members of COUM "covered John Peel in saliva."
Most significantly, this archive also includes two large (380 x 278mm) double-sided sheets with hand-written "Coum Appreciation form PQ69" and reply form, the latter with hand-drawn COUM penis. The appreciation form has such multiple choice questions as "Coum would be improved by: shooting/better amps/me" and "Coum should be: deplored/deported/demoted/promoted" etc. whilst the reply form includes "We were delighted/disgusted by your hostility/interest" etc.
A unique, undocumented archive from the early days of Coum, showcasing their Dada credentials.
