Original display photograph from the Witches Mill. Typed caption on the front reads “Queen Jualiana (sic) of Holland being weighed July 18, 1956.” The scales featured are in the Museum de Heksenwaag in Oudewater, Netherlands. During the 16th and 17th century witch hunts they were used to determine if an accused person was light enough to fly on a broomstick...
On the reverse a note reads “X1900 photo. Queen Jualiana of Holland” along with a more recent sticker which states “This photograph was formerly the property of Gerald Brosseau Gardner and was displayed at the Witches Mill museum on the Isle of Man. It was subsequently sold to Ripley’s and purchased from them.”
