After Maxine separated from Alex, she continued her practice and went on to form her own coven, The Temple of the Mother, which accentuated the role of the Goddess. A lot of the text is comprised of Maxine's own words. NB. A pencil note on rear endpaper identifies the location of one of the ritual photographs as Clanricarde Gardens in London.
