Exploring the role of difference and antinomy within ritual through an analysis of influential and radical performance artist Joseph Beuys, and particularly the performance I Like America and America Likes Me (1974) - in which he was basically locked in a room with a wild coyote, while performing strange ritualised actions in turn provoking counter actions from the coyote, and modifying his ritual accordingly.
